Are you still operating during the Covid pandemic?
Yes, I am offering my usual service, but via Zoom or over the telephone.
Will what we talk about remain confidential?
Yes. I work in accordance with the BACP ethical guidelines, which means that the content of our sessions is completely confidential. It also means that my work is supervised to ensure that I am working in the best way with you. During supervision, I may therefore occasionally talk about our work together but your name will not be used.
The only other circumstance under which I would need to disclose to others would be when I believed you were in serious danger of harming yourself or others, particularly children. However, I would not do this without attempting to talk to you about it first.
How many sessions will I need?
Each person who comes for counselling - and the issues that they are dealing with - are different, so it is difficult to specify a number of sessions. I work on an open-ended basis or for a brief time period. Either way, I suggest that we agree to work for six weeks initially, and then we can regularly review whether we feel there is further work to do together.
How much do you charge?
The first 50-minute appointment has a charge of £25. This 'taster session' gives the opportunity for us to meet, to find out a bit more about counselling, and for you to ask any questions.
If you decide that you feel comfortable pursuing counselling with me, subsequent sessions (lasting for 50 minutes for Individuals and 1 hour for Couples) are charged at a rate of £50 and £60 respectively. It may be possible to consider concessions for trainee counsellors.
Payment can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer (BACS) at the end of each session, or you may pay for a block of four sessions in advance if that suits you better.
When do appointments take place?
I offer appointments from Monday to Friday at any time between 9.00am and 9.00pm.
Are appointments at the same time every week?
Appointments are on a weekly basis and generally it is best to get into a regular pattern of appointment times. However, it may be possible to be flexible if you are unable to come at the regular time.
Do you offer Supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors?
Yes, I do. Please see the Supervision page for details.
